On Tuesday, the boss talked with Andrea Mitchell about the importance of not underestimating Donald Trump and the value of speeches at the Democratic convention.
While he doesn’t expect Clinton will get the big bump in the polls many have in years past, he does think this is an opportunity for Clinton to reach working-class voters.
“I do think this is the moment when Hillary Clinton has to show she can do what Bill Clinton and Joe Biden can do, which is speak to a certain type of American who hasn’t been in the forefront, I’d say, of the Obama administration’s focus. They lost them badly obviously in off-year elections in 2010 and 2014.”
He also argued people need to focus on the lasting impact of convention speeches, not just their quality.
