Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders is writing a book being published by St. Martin’s Press that is set to be released around the time of the 2020 presidential election.
Sanders, 37, served in the very public role from July 2017 to July of this year, leaving on amicable terms and with President Trump’s encouragement to run to be Arkansas’ next governor. During her time as press secretary, Sanders faced both scrutiny and praise for how she handled the polarizing position.
“In her book, she will recount her years on the front line of the campaign and in the administration, including the most dramatic and challenging moments,” a Thursday press release reads. “Sarah will address subjects including the media, family, faith, and performing an all-consuming and highly visible job while raising her young family.”
Sanders said she is excited to tell her story “about the challenges of being a working mom at the highest level of American politics” and her role in the “historic fight raging between the Trump administration and its critics.”
When Sanders departed the White House, Trump urged her to run for the governor’s seat of her home state of Arkansas in 2022. She has reportedly considered a run and would be the second in her family to be elected to the job, with her father Mike Huckabee having served as Arkansas’ chief executive from 1996 to 2007.
Sanders has also become a contributor with Fox News and is expected to make her debut on Fox & Friends on Friday.
Trump appointed Melania Trump’s spokeswoman, 42-year-old Stephanie Grisham, to replace Sanders and also fill the role of White House communications director. The administration has drastically scaled back the role in recent months, with the once-common press briefings now nonexistent.
