Police tactical commander dies from stroke

Baltimore County police’s tactical commander has died from a massive stroke after investigating a murder-suicide, police said.

Lt. Michael Howe, 55, collapsed after returning home from a Randallstown crime scene Sunday. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he died Monday afternoon, police said.

Howe was a 30-year veteran of the Baltimore County Police Department and had commanded the Tactical Unit since 1998.
