Former Virginia governor and recently-declared U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine is headed to Loudoun County Saturday evening to deliver a speech at the county Democrats’ Jefferson-Jackson dinner.
Loudoun, which has experienced significant growth over the past decade, is seen as a key swing area in Virginia that could be crucial for Kaine in his bid for the seat of retiring Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va. George W. Bush carried the county in 2004 with about 56 percent of the vote, President Obama won it 54-45 in 2008, and Gov. Bob McDonnell, a Republican, won a whopping 61 percent of the vote in the county in 2009.
The price tag for the black tie optional event is $150 per person. Once (and possibly future) Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe is also scheduled to be there.
