Comedian Julia Louis-Dreyfus described what a meeting of the veeps was like in an interview Friday night with “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert.
Vice President Biden “likes to talk a lot,” the actress said, recalling a state dinner where she sat next to him.
She said that Biden, however, ” is one of the most wonderful men I’ve ever met,” the actress said.
“I had the experience of being a very good audience to Vice President Biden,” Louis-Dreyfus said. “He was telling me one fabulous story after another, but I will admit to you, I was looking around and thinking, ‘Oh I need to go meet J.J. Abrams or whoever it is,’ and he’s still talking. And, of course, you can’t say to the vice president, ‘Excuse me, Mr. Vice President, I think I’m going to go mingle.'”
Louis-Dreyfus, who played a fictional vice president, now the president, in the HBO show “Veep,” made a 7-minute-long video for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner with Biden back in 2014. In the clip, the two drive around Washington in a yellow corvette, write their own Washington Post headlines and get “45” tattoos together.
The “Veep” star also revealed that she met Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan, who she described as a fan of her HBO show. Louis-Dreyfus said that Kagan told her that both she and the late Antonin Scalia would get together every week to talk about the latest “Veep” episode.
