The Casey Cares Foundation, a local nonprofit that provides uplifting programs for critically ill children and their families, will receive a much-needed financial boost at an upcoming fundraising event expected to attract more than 300 people.

“We?re really honored to have them select us,” said Casey Baynes, the organization?s founder. “It makes us realize that other people see the value of what we do.”

The foundation was chosen by Tammy Trenta, a cast member on this season of “The Apprentice.” Trenta is also co-founder of The Theresa Kathryn Foundation, the nonprofit foundation?s first beneficiary for its inaugural event, to be held June 16. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Casey Cares.

The event will be held at the Maritime Hotel in New York City and tickets cost $65.

Baynes said she is hoping that the event raises about $10,000 for the organization ? an amount that would be significant to the charity?s bottom line. She added that being the focus of the event would also increase awareness of the charity, which could translate into more donations.

“An event is not only profitable to us monetarily, but it?s there to help us get the name out and make people aware of what we do,” Baynes said.

Baynes said the money would be used to directly support the foundation?s programs, which include birthday surprises, pizza parties, weekend trips and tickets to sporting events and activities.

Since its founding in 2000, the Casey Cares Foundation has assisted more than 3,400 children and their families.

The event will also include appearances by several “Apprentice” cast members, and dinner dates with two of the cast members will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
