Former President Bill Clinton descended on the southern border Monday in a final effort by Democrats to rally support for two vulnerable House candidates.
Clinton will first appear in Laredo on Monday morning to urge residents to get out and vote for nine-term Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX).
Cuellar is in a tight race for the 28th Congressional District against Republican Latina Cassy Garcia, who has chided the incumbent over an FBI investigation into him and previous campaign donations from a representative connected to a Mexican cartel.
Clinton and Cuellar have a personal connection that dates back three decades to when Cuellar worked as Clinton’s Texas campaign manager.

Clinton will head several hours southeast in the afternoon to Edinburg where he will campaign with Michelle Vallejo.
Vallejo is running against Hispanic Republican Monica De La Cruz in the 15th Congressional District.

The district’s current representative, Vicente Gonzalez, chose to abandon the district and run in a neighboring one that was more favorable to Democrats.
Former 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will not attend either event.
