Woman charged with assault on rescue personnel

A woman faces charges after allegedly biting and hitting rescue squad personnel while being taken to the hospital, police said. Paula DiRocco, 53, was charged with two felony counts of assault on rescue personnel plus one misdemeanor count of assault, according to the Manassas City Police Department.

At about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, DiRocco, who allegedly was intoxicated, assaulted rescue squad workers as she was transported to Prince William Hospital. Police said that DiRocco hit one worker in the face numerous times and bit another worker in the arm.

While she was at the hospital, DiRocco also assaulted a nurse by hitting her with heart monitoring equipment, police said.

DiRocco is scheduled to be in court on March 13.
