D.C. Councilman David Catania will endorse Sekou Biddle on Thursday morning in the special election to fill an at-large council seat.
Biddle is scheduled to be on WPFW’s “The Politics Hour” show at 11 a.m. The Biddle campaign said in a statement and Catania’s office confirmed that Catania will be endorsing Biddle, who is currently filling the at-large seat on an interim basis. A citywide special election has been scheduled for April 26 to select a permanent replacement for the seat vacated by Kwame Bwrown when he became chairman.
Biddle and Catania appeared together on Wednesday when Catania announced a sweeping bill that will revamp the city’s approach to youth behavioral problems and truancy.
Biddle has been trying to separate himself from early endorsements from Mayor Vince Gray and Council Chairman Kwame Brown who have been caught in separate scandals in recent weeks. But Catania has been, at times, a vocal critic of the Gray administration and his endorsement of Biddle might help the Ward 4 resident add credibility to his claims that he’s not beholden to the mainstream political powers in the city.
