Large brush fire in Germantown

Firefighters are battling a large wind-driven brush fire in Germantown. The blaze spans eight to 15 non-contiguous acres in the area near Riffle Ford Road, said Montgomery County fire and rescue Assistant Chief Scott Graham.

The fire broke out at about 10 a.m.

Three or four houses were affected by the blaze. The fire is under control near the homes, but it’s too early to tell how badly the buildings were damaged, Graham said.

No injuries have been reported.

Fire crews from Frederick County and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources are helping put out the fire.
