Students at an elementary school in Germantown will be joining the staff from the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission to create Chesapeake Bay oyster habitats on Friday.
The students and staff will create the hollow concrete reef balls at Spark Matsunga Elementary School, providing a space for oysters to latch on and grow.
The students will get to watch the hundreds of reef balls being dropped into the Chesapeake Bay on the Memorial Stadium Oyster Reef in May.
