Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has reportedly been speaking with billionaire Mark Cuban about a potential 2020 presidential run and has advised him to run as a Democrat.
Four sources told the Daily Beast that Cuban and Bannon have been talking for months about a potential White House run in 2020.
“They talk regularly,” Sam Nunberg, a former Trump campaign political adviser, told The Daily Beast. “They’re very similar. They have a lot of synergy there. Even when [Steve] went to work for Trump, Mark would be interviewed and say nice things about Steve.”
Cuban has publicly discussed running for president in 2020, but he denied that Bannon told him to run a Democrat.
Cuban told The Daily Beast he has exchanged text messages with Bannon “a few times” since the election. None of those messages have “been more than one full sentence,” Cuban said.
The former White House chief strategist told TMZ last month Cuban, who owns the Dallas Mavericks, would be taken seriously if he ran as a Democrat.
