RENSSELAER, N.Y. (AP) — Developers who had been eying a casino site just off the Thruway in Albany are now pursuing a site across the Hudson River in Rensselaer (rehn-suh-LEER’) County.
A spokesman for the Chickasaw Nation’s Global Gaming Solutions says Wednesday they will seek support for a riverside site in the city of Rensselaer. The proposed Albany site being pursued by the tribe and Flaum Management was reportedly not suitable for the large-scale resort developers were proposing.
There are 19 development groups interested in four casino licenses that will be granted this year in three regions: the Albany-Saratoga area, the Southern Tier-Finger Lakes region and the Catskills and mid-Hudson River Valley.
Applicants have until June 30 to submit final proposals.
