Gov. Bob McDonnell will host the second statewide transportation conference in Norfolk next week to discuss his legislative agenda and existing programs for roads, rail, transit, port, aviation and spaceport.
Federal and state transportation officials will host sessions from Dec. 7 to Dec. 9 as part of “Virginia – Gateway to the World” at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel that focus on everything from funding to the state’s burgeoning commercial space program.
Prior to the conference on Dec. 6, the Inaugural Virginia Freight Transportation Summit will also be held in Norfolk.
“This is an exciting time for transportation in Virginia. With our nearly $4 billion transportation plan advanced by the General Assembly earlier this year, the public and private sector are working together to make critical investments in Virginia’s” transportation sector, McDonnell said. “These investments will chart Virginia’s future, benefiting commuters and creating jobs, economic development and enhancing the commonwealth’s competitive edge in the global economy. We welcome participants and guests alike to this event in one of Virginia’s premier transportation centers.”
McDonnell is scheduled to speak at the conference on Dec. 8.
