Man, 23, dies after crash in Prince George’s County

A man died in a vehicle collision Monday night in Prince George’s County, police said.

Jason Antwan Patten, 23, who was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Maryland State Police.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Monday, troopers responded to the collision at Branch Avenue south of Woodyard Road in Clinton.

A witness told police that the Chevrolet crossed the southbound lanes of traffic on Branch Avenue and then went back across them, striking a 2008 Toyota Corolla. The Chevrolet then overturned and collided with trees, police said, causing Patten to be ejected from the car.

Patten was speeding, according to preliminary investigations. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and alcohol wasn’t a factor, police said.

The Toyota’s driver suffered minor injuries and wasn’t taken to a hospital, police said.
