When most people think of Norman Rockwell, the words “all-american icon” come to mind. What better time to celebrate an all-american icon than Memorial Day weekend? The Maryland Science Center presents the premiere of “Rockwell?s America: Celebrating the Art of Norman Rockwell,” a national traveling exhibit dedicated to the late artist, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Rockwell painted more than 300 covers for the Saturday Evening Post for 47 years. Created by the Becker Group, the exhibit focuses mainly on Rockwell?s magazine covers. What is unique about it is the pairing of the covers with interactive experiences ? more than 30 life-size, 3-D depictions of Rockwell?s work.
