Clinton: Trump has all but declared surrender in battle against ISIS

Hillary Clinton said Monday that Donald Trump’s recent comments on the United States’ involvement in a major offensive to push Islamic State terrorists out of Mosul, Iraq, proves that the GOP nominee is totally unqualified to sit in the White House.

“This is a guy who says he knows more about ISIS than the generals. I don’t think so,” Clinton said Monday at a campaign stop in Manchester, N.H.

Her remarks came in reference to a tweet Trump sent out this weekend in which he said of the Mosul offensive: “The attack on Mosul is turning out to be a total disaster. We gave them months of notice. U.S. is looking so dumb. VOTE TRUMP and WIN AGAIN!”

Islamic State fighters and their families are fleeing Mosul by the hundreds, and they’re now fleeing over into Syria, according to the latest reports from the field.

On Monday, Clinton argued at length that Trump’s defeatist tweet is just another disqualifying thing that he has said this year.

“He’s basically declaring defeat before the battle has even started,” the Democratic nominee said. “He is proving to the world what it means to have an unqualified commander in chief. It’s not only wrong, it’s dangerous and it needs to be repudiated on Nov. 8.”

Clinton also argued in New Hampshire that Trump’s remarks on the Mosul offensive are part of a decades-long pattern of the GOP nominee talking trash about the U.S. and its leaders.

“He has been denigrating America for decades. It started before he ran against me. It started before President Obama took office,” Clinton said.

“In fact, back in 1987, he spent $100,000 on an ad in the New York Times criticizing President Reagan,” she continued. “He said, and I quote, ‘The world is laughing at America.’ Does that sound familiar? This is someone who roots for failure and takes glee in mocking our country no matter who our president is.”
