A woman was cornered and shot while driving in her car on Liberty Heights Avenue, Baltimore County police said Wednesday.
The victim, Rhonda Nichols, 47, was driving on Liberty Heights approaching Northern Parkway at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday when she noticed two vehicles following her, police spokesman Cpl. Michael Hill said. One vehicle passed Nichols and cut her off while the other forced her onto a driveway on the 6400 block of Liberty Road near the city line, Hill said.
She hit a car parked in the driveway and then heard gunshots, he said. The drivers of the other vehicles fired several shots into her car, then fled. Hill said Nichols received minor injuries to her hand from bullet fragments, and was treated and released from Sinai Hospital.
Hill said Nichols does not think she knows the assailants.
She identified the cars as red and maroon, police said, but no further description was available.
Police said they have no suspects and no motive at this time, but are continuing their investigation.
