Ice Cube drops out of $9M movie role after refusing COVID-19 vaccine request: Report

Ice Cube dropped out of multimillion-dollar role in an upcoming comedy movie after declining a request to get a COVID-19 vaccine, according to a report Friday.

The rapper and actor, who was set to costar in Sony’s Oh Hell No, is giving up $9 million with his decision and now the studio is looking for a replacement, sources told the Hollywood Reporter.

Ice Cube had partnered with actor Jack Black for the film in June. Sony, which had expected to film in Hawaii this winter, is pushing back the production start date.

Film producers for Oh Hell No requested that the cast involved in the production get vaccinated, according to the report.

Elsewhere in the entertainment business, NBA star Kyrie Irving was told that he would not be allowed to compete in any games or practice with his team until he received the COVID-19 jab. Irving said his decision not to receive the jab was a “personal choice” and not political.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Sony and WME, the agency that represents Ice Cube, for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
