Trump camp: ‘Screaming about sexism’ shows Clinton is desperate

Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said Friday that the Clinton camp’s complaints about sexism show the candidate is desperate with just two months to go before the November election.

“Screaming about sexism when you are running as the first female president of the United States with two months to go seems to me a little bit desperate,” Conway said on CNN.

Conway said after Clinton’s years of experience in government, the Democratic presidential candidate cannot claim that people are “picking on me because of my gender.”

“So you can’t have it both ways. You can’t run, basically for eight years now, for president of the United States on those credentials and then turn around and say ‘everybody’s being unfair to me, they are picking on me because of my gender,'” she said.

Hilary Clinton has played up gender in the election, and said during a press conference Thursday, “I think there will be a lot of PhD theses and popular journalism writing on that subject for years to come.”

But when asked whether the issue of sexism resonates with her as a successful woman in a largely male-dominated field, Conway quickly responded, “No, it does not.”

“Especially because she runs on her D.C. political resume having been the first lady, a United States senator, and secretary of state,” she said. “She’s using those achievements to say that she is qualified to be commander in chief.”
