Brookland store manager killed in robbery attempt The manager of the Newton Foodmart in D.C.’s Brookland neighborhood was shot in the chest during a suspected robbery attempt around 6:40 p.m. Saturday.

According to the 5th District Metropolitan Police Department Listserv, two gunmen tried to rob the store on the 3600 block of 12th Street. One of the culprits shot the manager in the chest.

The victim was taken to the Washington Hospital Center’s trauma unit, where he was later pronounced dead. Police have not yet released his name.

Md. gas station employee shot in robbery attempt

An employee at a Texaco gas station in Clinton, Md., was shot Saturday afternoon in what police are describing as a robbery attempt.

The man, whose name was not released, was treated and released the same day, according to a Prince George’s County police spokesman.

The attempted robbery occurred around 2 p.m. at the station on the 6700 block of Old Alexandria Ferry Road.

The assailant is described as a black male with a dark complexion and dark clothes, roughly between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet tall.
