Trump: Iran planned to attack four embassies

President Trump said Iran was plotting attacks on four embassies, though he did not give specific details beyond the facility in Baghdad.

The Trump administration has given little information about the threat it said was imminent as justification for a targeted drone strike that killed top Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani.

“We will tell you that probably it was going to be the embassy in Baghdad,” Trump told Fox News host Laura Ingraham.

“I can reveal that I believe it would have been four embassies,” he added.

Trump dismissed the notion that Americans have a right to know specifics about the future plots, even if intelligence methods and sources are kept secret.

The president told reporters Thursday that he ordered Soleimani’s killing because the Iranians “were looking to blow up our embassy.”

At his rally in Ohio later in the day, Trump said Soleimani was planning attacks on multiple embassies.

“Soleimani was actively planning new attacks, and he was looking very seriously at our embassies, and not just the embassy in Baghdad,” Trump said.
