Republicans are more inclined to trust Donald Trump over House Speaker Paul Ryan to lead the GOP, according to a new poll.
Fifty-eight percent trust the presumed Republican presidential nominee to lead the party over the Wisconsin congressman, according to a new NBC News/SurveyMonkey Weekly Tracking poll.
Only 39 percent trust Ryan more.

Trump and Ryan met last week, but Ryan has yet to endorse Trump, and the two are still looking for ways to unite the party ahead of the general election.
People who consider themselves very conservative, conservative or moderate all trust Trump over Ryan. Sixty-three percent of Republicans who identify as very conservative trust Trump more than Ryan, compared to the 34 percent of very conservative people who trust Ryan over Trump.
Conservatives trust Trump over Ryan by 17 points (57 percent to 40 percent), as do the same margin of moderates.
The online poll was conducted May 9-15 and surveyed 14,100 adults, including 12,507 who say they’re registered voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 1.2 percentage points.
