Ward 8 D.C. Councilman Marion Barry will spend Friday night in the hospital after minor surgery involving the urinary tract, his office said.
Barry’s office did not elaborate on the reason for the procedure, which Dr. Gaurav Bandi was performing at Sibley Memorial Hospital.
Though Barry’s health has long been troublesome, the statement from his office declared him to be in good health, noting that Barry, who underwent a kidney transplant in February 2009, remains cancer-free 16 years after a bout with prostate cancer.
