On Thursday, Khizr M. Khan, the father of Army Captain Humayun Khan, addressed the Democratic convention.
When a suspicious vehicle appeared at the base of the military base at which Khan was stationed, “Captain Khan told his troops to get back,” said Hillary Clinton in a video. “But he went forward. He took ten steps toward the car before it exploded. Captain Khan was killed, but his unit was saved by his corageous act.”
He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
His father contrasted Clinton with Donald Trump when speaking before the convention.
Khan later said, “Donald Trump, you are asking Americans to trust you with our future. Let me ask you,” Khan said, holding up the Constitution, “Have you even read the U.S. Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy. In this document, look for the words ‘liberty’ and ‘equal protection of law.'”
