MSNBC morning host Mika Brzezinski said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as acting like a “wannabe dictator’s butt boy” during his interview with “Fox & Friends” Wednesday morning.
“Of the pathetic deflections that we just heard when he appeared on ‘Fox & Friends,’ was that a patriot speaking? Or a wannabe dictator’s butt boy?” Brzezinski said on the air. “And I’m dead serious. I’m asking: Are these the words of a patriot?”
During his interview with “Fox & Friends,” Pompeo echoed President Trump’s comments on journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s murder, saying that “some” of what the CIA concluded could be inaccurate.
Otherwise, the secretary of state seemed to dodge most questions related to Khashoggi’s murder and the presumed involvement of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The network attempted to censor Brzezinski’s homophobic slur but seemed to catch it too late, and the on-screen transcription failed to include the statement.
Instead the closed captioning read, “Is that a patriot speaking? Are these the words of a patriot?”
Brzezinski and co-host of “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough, are frequent critics of Trump who also pride themselves on round table discussions that center around championing the liberal agenda.
After receiving public backlash for the comment, Brzezinski issued a statement on Twitter where she said she regretted her “choice of words,” and says she wishes she used a phrase like “water boy” instead.
