Camera footage from outside Epstein’s jail cell unusable

One video camera recording outside Jeffrey Epstein’s jail cell the night he died took unusable footage.

Another camera located nearby functioned properly, sources familiar with the Justice Department’s investigation into Epstein’s suicide told the Washington Post. Why one camera’s footage is flawed and the other appears clean is not yet known.

Investigators are still looking into Epstein’s death and uncovering which policies were violated and which officials to hold accountable. The footage is a critical component to the ongoing investigation.

DOJ officials have already uncovered several breaches of protocol at Metropolitan Correctional Center, where Epstein was being held. Jailers left Epstein alone in his cell and did not check on the inmate for about three hours, though they were supposed to walk by every half hour.

The guards responsible for watching Epstein fell asleep at their posts and later attempted to falsify records to show that they had checked up on Epstein like they were supposed to.

Epstein, a wealthy financier, was being held in prison awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking. Epstein was convicted as a pedophile more than a decade ago after he was arrested on similar charges.
