Lester Holt rated as best moderator for first Democratic presidential debate: Poll

NBC’s Lester Holt was rated as the best moderator of the five who participated in the first Democratic presidential debate according to a Hollywood Reporter/Morning Consult poll released on Tuesday.

Holt moderated the debate that took place last Wednesday and Thursday alongside NBC News, MSNBC, and Telemundo personalities Savannah Guthrie, Rachel Maddow, Chuck Todd, and Jose Diaz-Balart.

Sixty-seven percent of the people surveyed said that Holt was either “excellent” or “good.” The remaining third said he either did “fair” or “poor,” which makes up for all of the possible answers.

Maddow and Guthrie came in at second and third respectively with 57% and 56% saying the performed either “excellent” or “good.” Diaz-Balart and Todd both fell just below the 50% marker with Diaz-Balart edging Todd out 48% to 47%.

Todd led the way for the five moderators with 17% of respondents saying he did a “poor” job.

The poll was taken from June 29-July 1 and they surveyed 1,860 adults.
