GOP senators block Ind. online sales tax proposal

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Republicans headed off a scheduled state Senate vote Thursday on a bill aimed at forcing Amazon.com and some other online-only retailers to start collecting Indiana’s 7 percent sales tax this summer.

The bill that cleared the House by a wide margin on Monday was set to go before the full Senate until the Senate Republican caucus decided to have the measure pulled and sent to a House-Senate conference committee for negotiation of possible changes.
