Spike Lee has endorsed Bernie Sanders for president. The Lee endorsment comes in the form of a radio ad, saying that “When he gets into the White House, he will do the right thing.”
Listen here:
“Ninety-nine percent of Americans were affected by the Great Recession of 2008,” Lee says in the ad.
“Many of you affected are listening to me right now. That’s why I am officially endorsing my main man Bernie Sanders. Bernie takes no money from corporations. Nada. Which means he don’t owe nobody nothing. When he gets into the White House, he will do the right thing.”
The Bernie Sanders campaign also sends out part of Lee’s endorsment of Barack Obama from 2008:
“And the months leading up to the election in November will determine which way this country is going to go; forward or backward,” Lee told a crowd in February 2008 when he endorsed then-Sen. Barack Obama. “It’s up to you to do the right thing.” “Let’s go to the tale of the tape,” the director and producer says in the spot supporting Sanders. “Marched with Dr. King. Arrested in Chicago for protesting segregation in Chicago’s public schools. Fought for wealth and education equality throughout his entire career. Consistency people. No flip flop.”
