Hillary Clinton topped Donald Trump in a slew of battleground states polls released Sunday, all of which were conducted before a lewd tape scandal rocked the Trump campaign over the weekend.
In two NBC News/Wall Street Journal polls, likely voters gave Clinton a 3-point advantage over Trump in Florida (45-42 percent) in a four-person race, and an even greater 12-point lead in Pennsylvania (49-37 percent).
Findings from another Pennsylvania poll gave Clinton a smaller, but still significant, lead over Trump.
Clinton scored 48 percent of likely voters in the Keystone State over Trump’s 40 percent, as shown in one of three CBS/Yougov polls released Sunday. Clinton also enjoyed leads in Ohio (46-42 percent) and Wisconsin (43-39 percent).
These polls reflect the opinions of likely voters before the Washington Post published on Friday the 2005 video in which Trump can be heard talking about his efforts to seduce a married woman in vulgar terms.
CBS said it went back and asked the respondents in Ohio and Pennsylvania about how the tape might impact their view of Trump. Fifty-four percent of respondents in Ohio and 51 percent in Pennsylvania said the tape didn’t change their opinion of the billionaire businessman. Meanwhile, 44 percent in Ohio and 47 percent in Pennsylvania said their view of Trump soured, though CBS notes most of them already had a negative opinion of Trump.
Trump especially took a hit among women, more than half of whom in Pennsylvania said the tape worsened their view of the GOP nominee.
It wasn’t all bad news for Trump this weekend.
Another poll conducted before Friday showed him ahead of Clinton in Iowa by 4 percent.
