White House: Trump briefed on North Korea’s launch while the missile was ‘still in the air’

President Trump was briefed about North Korea’s ballistic missile test on Tuesday just minutes after the launch occurred, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said.

Trump “was briefed, while missile was still in the air, on the situation in North Korea,” Sanders announced on Twitter on Tuesday.

The president received his briefing while still on Capitol Hill, where he had journeyed to whip up support among Senate Republicans for the GOP tax plan, Sanders told the Washington Examiner.

The North Korean missile launch was the first such test in roughly two months, and it came within weeks of Trump’s visit to the region, during which he had warned Pyongyang against pursuing its nuclear ambitions.
