A spokesman for the Harford County Sheriff?s Office said Thursday that authorities are concerned about a missing prostitute last seen June 4 in Aberdeen.
In recent weeks, two prostitutes in the county have reported being nearly choked to death and two others have been found dead.
Jennifer Lynn Blankenship, 25, of the 100 block of Spesutia Road, was reported missing June 13.
Authorities say it is not out of character for her to disappear.
But as a result of the investigations into the deaths of Aberdeen resident Sheila Ann Turner and Elkton resident Lillian A. Phelps, both 43, police decided to look at reports of other missing women, Eyler said.
Since September 2003, nine females ages 14 to 58 who were reported missing still haven?t been found, the Sheriff?s Office said. Six of them have been reported missing since mid-April.
“Of particular interest to investigators is the whereabouts of Jennifer Blankenship, who is a known prostitute and frequented the Aberdeen area. Blankenship disappeared two days after the body of Sheila Ann Turner was found in a remote field near Perryman,” said a news release issued by the sheriff?s office.
The other missing subjects are Laurie Dee Ambrose, 41, of West Virginia, last seen in Joppa on Jan. 13; Cynthia Ann Briggs, 58, of Baltimore, last seen in Darlington on Sept. 17, 2004; Mandy Marie Fox, 14, of Edgewood, last seen at home on April 27; Monica Patricia Gonsalves, 24, of Edgewood, last seen there on April 13; Ashley Nicole Hess, 17, of Churchville, last seen at home May 18; Erica Noel Lautz, 25, of Bel Air, last seen at home June 14; Estefania Sarah Penn, 17, of Edgewood, last seen at home June 2; and Erika Nicole Shaffner, 17, of Darlington, last seen in that area on Sept. 25, 2003.
