President Obama will use his executive authority once again today as he’ll sign an executive order protecting LGBT employees. The White House says the executive order will protect LGBT employees in the workplace.

Following the event, President Obama will hold a Medal of Honor Ceremony for Ryan Pitts, a former active duty Army staff sergeant.

On Capitol Hill this week, the Senate Veterans’ Affairs committee will hold a nomination hearing for Robert McDonald to head the department. McDonald is President Obama’s pick to replace Eric Shinseki who left earlier this year.
