Thousands of drivers were cited or arrested in a two-day traffic-violation crackdown on Virginia highways.
Virginia State Police said troopers arrested or cited 5,814 people on Interstate 95 and Interstate 81 on Sunday and Monday.
On I-95, troopers issued 2,712 citations, including 1,158 for speeding. Thirteen people were arrested for drunk driving or on drug charges.
On I-81, 3,102 people were cited for traffic violations, including 1,725 speeders. Troopers made 21 arrests.
The enforcement campaign was the 34th such initiative for state olice. In total, more than 170,000 people have been arrested or cited.
