Baltimore rolls out the red carpet

Feast on nearly 200 films this weekend at the Maryland Film Festival in Baltimore. The annual event at the Charles Theatre gives screen time to 37 films connected to Maryland ? either shot in the state, created by Maryland filmmakers or featuring locals.

National and hometown directors, producers, writers and set designers are expected to attend the three-day festival, sharing their insights during seminars and informal meetings.

“We?re trying to bring a taste of film festival culture to town, and bring filmmakers to Baltimore to show off the city for film viewing and production,” festival Programming Administrator Eric Hatch said.

Festival highlights include John Waters? presentation, a documentary on Baltimore-area filmmaker Don Dohler, the screening of a 3-D film, the classic “Nosferatu” with an original score by the Alloy Orchestra and the Tent Village activities.
