Update: Dan Scandling, Wolf’s chief of staff, said the criticism was “standard operating procedure” for the DCCC.
“When are they going to come up with suggestions for cuts?” he said. “This is the same old, same old the DCCC has done for the past five years with Congressman Wolf. It’s about time they come up with ideas for cutting spending and reducing the deficit.”
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is hitting Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., for his vote on the House of Representatives’ continuing resolution that could reportedly slash millions from local transit security programs, including Metro.
“Rep. Frank Wolf’s reckless vote for a spending plan that would cut security in Metro puts hardworking Virginians’ security at risk,” said DCCC spokesman Jesse Ferguson. “The fact that Rep. Frank Wolf is willing to compromise the safety and well-being of people in his district all in the name of pandering to the right wing speaks volumes about his lack of commitment to security shows he’s out of touch.”
In addition to $150 million in potential federal cuts for Metro capital costs, Metro and MARC could take significant hits from a proposed cut of $783 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency aid to state and local governments, the Washington Post reported.
