Lofgren helps raise $35k for Esiason Foundation

Legendary rock guitarist Nils Lofgren got back to his roots — literally — this week. The Bethesda-bred lead guitarist for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band was in Washington on Wednesday night, strumming up donations for another local hero at a charity event for the Boomer Esiason Foundation. Lofgren’s performance capped off a silent auction sponsored by Bridgewater Wealth & Financial Management that raised $35,000 for the foundation established by the University of Maryland alumnus and former NFL quarterback Esiason. Roughly 225 Washingtonians attended the fundraiser. Esiason founded the nonprofit, which supports cystic fibrosis research and education, in 1993 after his son was diagnosed with the disease. – Liz Farmer
