Pope Francis to drop ‘Wake Up!’ album in November

Pope Francis is already an international sensation, but now he is attempting to spread his holy teachings through music with his upcoming pop-rock album “Wake Up!”

Rolling Stone’s Daniel Kreps reported Friday that His Holiness will release the Vatican-approved LP on Nov. 27. The album, a collaboration with Believe Digital, is available for pre-order on iTunes with an instant download of single “Wake Up! Go! Go! Forward!”

Kreps described the project as “sacred hymns and excerpts of [Pope Francis’] most moving speeches in multiple languages paired with uplifting musical accompaniment ranging from pop-rock to Gregorian chant.”

The album will feature 11 tracks in English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, according to Rolling Stone. It was produced by long-time papal artistic director Don Giulio Neroni, who had previously collaborated with John Paul II and Benedict XVI on musical ventures.

“As in the past, for this album too, I tried to be strongly faithful to the pastoral and personality of Pope Francis: the pope of dialogue, open doors, hospitality,” Neroni told Rolling Stone. “For this reason, the voice of Pope Francis in ‘Wake Up!’ dialogues music.
