A Nothern Virginia daycare operator was arrested after two girls, ages 1 and 3, were found wandering unattended about a half-mile from the business. Maleighia Shockey, 23, of Montclair, was charged with two felony counts of child neglect. She was released on $2,500 bond.
Prince William County police said officers were flagged down Tuesday by a passersby who found the two girls in the area of Ashgrove Drive and Dolphin Drive in Montclair.
Police canvassed the area and found a daycare that Shockey runs at her residence in the 16000 block of Fairway Drive. Shockey told police that she was not aware that the girls had been missing, and police determined that they had been unaccounted for about an hour. The girls were in good health.
