MyPillow founder Mike Lindell announced that he hopes to have his company producing 50,000 medical face masks a day to distribute around the country by the end of the week.
“Given our current business lines, we are experiencing the effects of this pandemic firsthand,” Lindell said during a press conference at the White House on Monday. “We’ve dedicated 75% of my manufacturing to produce cotton face masks.”
MyPillow’s intention to help the federal government respond to the outbreak of the coronavirus was first reported by the Washington Examiner last week. Lindell, a noted supporter of President Trump, said the country will defeat the disease with the plan the White House task force has for taking on the pandemic.
“Thank you, Mr. President, for your call to action,” Lindell said, “which has empowered companies like MyPillow to help our nation win this invisible war.”
Lindell then pivoted to a more personal train of thought.
“Now, I wrote something more off the cuff,” he said, turning to Trump. “God gave us grace on Nov. 8, 2016, to change the course we were on. God had been taken out of our schools and lives.”
Lindell suggested people take time while they stay at home to avoid contracting the virus to study the Bible.
“I encourage you to use this time at home to get back in the word, read our Bibles, and spend time with our families,” he said. “Our president gave us so much hope where, just a few short months ago, we had the best economy, the lowest unemployment, and wages going up. It was amazing. With our great president, vice president, and this administration, the other great people in this country, and praying daily, we will get through this and get back to a place that is stronger and safer than ever.”
