Democrats are demanding that he release returns for 12 years, just as President Obama did, and say Romney’s refusal to do so is evidence he’s got something to hide. But Romney is likely to make only one other set of returns public, his latest from 2011. “We have released all of the financial statements required by law,” he told Fox Business Network.
Will states expand Medicaid as the health care law requires?
Several Republican governors say they won’t expand Medicaid despite the new federal health care law allowing anyone making up to 133 percent of the poverty level to get health care through the program, which is jointly financed by federal and state governments. The Obama administration say the expansion is necessary to ensure everyone has access to insurance, as the law requires. Republicans say the costs would further cripple their state finances.
Will Maryland’s 6th Congressional District swing back to Democrats?
Maryland’s 6th Congressional District is the most competitive race in the state thanks to redistricting. Democratic businessman John Delaney is challenging longtime Republican Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, whose hold on the traditionally conservative Western Maryland district is significantly at risk because the new district now stretches all the way to liberal-leaning Montgomery County. Most analysts say the race is largely a tossup, but give Delaney a slight edge.
