Border Patrol says it busted a drug smuggler using a drone to transport meth

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents apprehended a man they believed to be transporting illegal drugs over the border via a remote-controlled drone.

“Due to the agents’ heightened vigilance, this drone smuggling scheme was stopped before these dangerous narcotics could enter our communities,” said Boone Smith, a Border Patrol agent, in a statement on Friday.

The 25-year-old man arrested earlier this month had 13.44 pounds of methamphetamine with him, which federal officials estimated had a street value of $46,000.
