Nancy Pelosi is fundraising to amend the Constitution of the United States.
“You might miss out on history,” she writes in an email sent out on the Mother Jones email list.
“931,561 people and counting have added their name calling for a Constitutional amendment to end Citizens United.
“This is your chance to strike a crushing blow to a system that allows the Koch brothers and special interests to buy elections and drown out the voices of regular Americans. This is your chance to stand up for our democracy.”
She claims that “We’re just 68,439 signatures short of hitting our goal of 1,000,000 signatures,” and asks, “Will you add your name now?”
Clicking on the link brings one to a page that can accept donations.
“You’d think that the former speaker of the House would know how to pass a constitutional amendment (hint: it’s not a fundraising petition),” a source writes an in email. “Maybe she should try and pass a constitutional amendment to change the way we pass constitutional amendments.”
