If successful in securing a trip back to the White House in November, Hillary Clinton said half of her Cabinet would be comprised of women.
“I am going to have a Cabinet that looks like America and 50 percent of America is women,” Clinton said during an MSNBC town hall Monday night.
A spokesman for the Democratic front-runner said last week that Clinton is considering a woman as her running mate. If Clinton chooses a female VP running mate and won the general election, she would not only be the first female president, but have by her side the first woman ready to assume command.
“We’ll start with a broad list and then begin to narrow it. But there is no question that there will be women on that list,” said campaign chairman John Podesta.
Some reports have named Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren as someone Clinton is considering as a running mate, though the liberal darling has refused to endorse either Clinton or her rival Bernie Sanders.
During the Philadelphia town hall Monday, Clinton shared new details about her search for a vice president and the type of individuals she would consider as her top advisers.
“So whether it’s in a vice president or members of a Cabinet or in the White House staff, I want as broad a set of experiences that I can possibly draw together, because I’m someone who likes to listen to people who come at problems from different perspectives — even argue among themselves about it — because I think we get to a better solution and that’d certainly be how I go about it,” Clinton said.
