Tucker Carlson dispels rumors of Fox News exit and teases new ‘project’ to expand role

Fox News host Tucker Carlson dispelled the rumors about him leaving the network.

The prime-time host said on Monday that his team received “a lot of calls asking” if he plans to depart the network following posts on social media over the weekend with what appeared to be screenshots of Carlson saying on Parler that he was leaving Fox News. Politifact determined the screen shot, which appeared to show Carlson saying he was joining Newsmax in a month, to be a fake.

Carlson’s response to the inquiries was to say that his footprint at Fox News is expanding.

“Before we get to the next segment, a quick note about the show. Over the weekend, we got a lot of calls asking if we’re leaving Fox News. Ironically, at that very moment, we were working on a project to expand the amount of reporting and analysis we do in this hour, across other parts of the company,” Carlson said. “This show isn’t going anywhere. It’s getting bigger. The people who run Fox News want more of it, not less, and we’re grateful for that.”

“We’ll have specifics soon, but as always, thank you for your trust in us. We’ll do our best to be worthy of it,” he continued.

Speculation about Carlson’s future at Fox News comes as President Trump and his supporters have increasingly voiced frustration with the network, particularly with the network’s election night call that Joe Biden won the state of Arizona and later projecting Biden as the winner of the entire race, as other news outlets have done. So far, Trump has refused to concede to Biden as he awaits legal challenges and recounts to play out.

Amid the controversy, smaller competitors One America News Network and Newsmax have sought to snag Fox News viewers.
