Israel launched an airstrike in Gaza on Tuesday night that killed one of the top Hamas military chiefs responsible for planning the Oct. 7 attacks against Israel.

Mohammed Odeh held the top military position for only 11 days, replacing Izz al Din al Haddad, who also died in an Israeli military operation earlier in May. Odeh reportedly helped organize the Hamas attack in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, and was deemed responsible for the deaths of other Israeli citizens in the years that followed during the Israel-Hamas war. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Hamas military leader was responsible for the deaths of many Israelis.
