The View host Whoopi Goldberg said she wanted to clarify comments she made to fellow host Meghan McCain where she told the conservative to “stop talking” during the show.
“We’re just going to do a little cleanup before we do anything. You know, things get heated on this show,” Goldberg said Tuesday at the start of the show. “We’re really passionate. This is our jobs. We come in. We talk to each other. Sometimes we’re not as polite as we could be. That’s just the way it is.”
The host described the segment as “off the rails.” “We step in poopy, and stuff happens, and just — everybody just calm down,” she said.
McCain said she and Goldberg get along, and they had talked about their argument today. She also blamed the media for being “sexist” in the way they had covered the moment.
The exchange between the two occurred Monday when McCain accused Goldberg and her fellow hosts of not wanting to hear conservative perspectives on the show. Goldberg responded by saying, “Girl, please stop talking. Please stop talking right now.” McCain said she would not talk the rest of the show, and Goldberg said that she was fine with that.
