Jessica finally gives birth to daughter

The wait is over.

Jessica Simpson and her fiance, Eric Johnson, welcomed their daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, on Tuesday in L.A.

The baby weighed in at 9 pounds 13 ounces and is 21 3/4 inches long. According to People magazine, Maxwell is Eric’s middle name, and Drew is the maiden name of Jessica’s mother, Tina Simpson.

The singer took to her website to announce the news, saying, “We are so grateful for all of the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!”

And according to an Us Weekly source, “Mother and baby are doing just fine.”

Jessica, who seemed to many to be pregnant for an extremely long time, announced her pregnancy on Twitter last Halloween. She tweeted a photo of herself wrapped in a mummy costume and wrote, “It’s true — I’m going to be a mummy.”

After just six months of dating, Jessica and Eric, a former NFL player, got engaged in November 2010 but have said they have no date set and want to focus on the baby first.

Why Khloe needs a break from reality

As The Buzz mentioned yesterday, Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom have put their reality show, “Khloe & Lamar,” on hold.

Their decision seemed a bit odd considering the success they’ve enjoyed with the first two seasons.

So Khloe went on “Entertainment Tonight” to clarify a few things.

“Our show is not cancelled,” Khloe said. “Lamar and I have chosen to take a break this summer. We’ve been on a whirlwind doing back-to-back shows, and we just want to take a little time off for Lamar to be with family time, kids, basketball, Olympics — you never know. So, we have a lot on our plate right now.”

Lamar, who was recently released from the Dallas Mavericks, added, “The issue at hand is we just want to be happy. We’ll take our time and we’ll get back to it when it’s time.”

An Us source said the pair “just want to go on their honeymoon and take a breather,” adding, “Khloe’s exhausted from filming!”

Forgetting Hillary Clinton

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently had to reject Jason Segel — and she handled it like a pro.

The writer-actor mentioned that he’d love to work on-screen with the former first lady, telling Us Weekly in March that he felt she had a knack for comedy.

And according to the Hollywood Reporter, Hillary caught wind of the flattery and wrote him a polite rejection letter.

“I was delighted to read about your interest in sharing the big screen with me. As you can imagine, I am a little occupied at the moment,” she wrote. “But perhaps someday I can help you forget Sarah Marshall … again. My only condition is that there be Muppets involved.”
