Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry predicted Thursday that Donald Trump will have no issue debating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, saying he will “peel her skin off” in the process.
Perry told Fox News on Thursday afternoon that he’ll do so by discussing at length the 2012 terror attack in Benghazi, her email scandal, along with ongoing issues with the Clinton Foundation. Previously an opponent of Trump and backer of Sen. Ted Cruz, Perry has been a vocal supporter of Trump since the businessman became the party’s presumptive nominee in early May.
“We’ll see, again, a real fracturing. We’ll see a real exposure. You’ll see an individual that’s really not been used to taking that type of criticism,” Perry told Fox’s Dagen McDowell. “I mean, what’s it been months and months since she’s even had a press conference and not wanting to take hard questions … from the media.”
McDowell then asked Perry to predict what would happen when the two take to a debate stage, with Perry telling her how Trump would emerge victorious in detail.
“Donald Trump will peel her skin off in a debate setting, and actually he’ll peel it off this evening out in San Jose as well,” Perry continued. “And the people of this country are really concerned about an individual when you have Benghazi, you have the email scandals, you have the Clinton Foundation scandals. You want to talk about issues that cut to the real heart of Washington D.C. and the insiders that Bill and Hillary Clinton represent.”
“Donald Trump understands what the American people are really tuned into today,” Perry said. “[A]ll these attacks that we saw or we heard her talk about today, I think it’s just off the skin of the duck — I mean off the back of the duck because it’s just water that’s flowing out of her that’s not having any impact.”
